Which media will be accepted?
Only 2 dimensional art works, (painting, drawing, printing and photographs) will be accepted to participate in The Culture Cloud.  Images will only be accepted if they are in JPG, PDF or TIFF format with a minimum resolution of 500p (50px x 50px)

When and where can I upload my works?
You can start uploading/registering your art works from 5 March 2012 to Friday4 May 2012 Midnight. The only place you can upload your works and register is at www.theculturecloud.com or www.culturecloud.co.uk on the register section until the 30 April 2012 Midnight.

How many works can I upload?
The maximum amount of work you can upload is one single piece. This must be a picture of a physical piece that can be displayed in an exhibition. (Need specs of dimensions limitations)

May I enter more than one work?
You may only enter one piece per artist to The Culture Cloud. Any multiple submissions will not be accepted.

How do I compete in The Culture Cloud?
There are 4 main stages in The Culture Cloud.

Stage 1:
Upload/register you work on a secure site.
Stage 2:
 60 works will be selected by The Culture Cloud curators (a national network of experienced judges and curators). These works will be displayed on the Artfinder Culture Cloud website page for public vote.
Stage 3:
Top 30 list of artists will be created based on the most votes/likes received. The Top 30 will then be invited to display their work at New Art Exchange over a 3 week period in August 2012 (28th July-25th August) The voting recommences during this period.
Stage 4: The online voting for audiences will end on 25 September midnight and a ceremony event for the winners will be arranged late September date, time and venue TBC.

Do I need to provide a brief description about the work?
During the registration and upload process you will be required to fill out a short description of your work.

Who is responsible for the transportation of the works if I am selected as one of the Top 10 Artists? Will the NAE cover transporting expenses?
You will be responsible for arranging transportation and delivery of your work. New Art Exchange will provide £25 each way to help with delivery and collection of the work. This is a total of £50 each finalist.

Can I enter works which have been exhibited before?
You may enter works that have been previously exhibited as long as you fully own the piece.

How many artists are expected to upload their works in the first round?
We are aiming and expecting to achieve around 150 to 200 submissions for the first round.

Will the works be exhibited in any other galleries which are involved after the NAE exhibition?
The works will only be displayed at New Art Exchange. If this changes in the future it would be separate to The Culture Cloud and involve signing a new contract.

How do audiences register to vote?
Audiences can vote in multiple ways.

Using Artfinders site and Facebook Connect to ‘like’ works. www.artfinder.com or www.theculturecloud.com

Who will be awarding the prizes?
The CEO of New Art Exchange Skinder Hundal alongside the curators/judges national network will award the prizes in a ceremony at the end of the Exhibition alongside our partner galleries

How many prizes will be given?
When voting is complete on the top 30 works (exhibited at NAE) 2 winners will be picked an audience winner and curators winner. Winners willreceive a personalisediPad App, up to £2000£1000 cash and the possibility of a solo exhibition at the NAE in the future.

Where are the judges from?
The Judges/curators for the Culture Cloud are from a national network of visual arts spaces and organisations

Does The Culture Cloud believe the public votes will result in the "best" work winning?
The public votes will result in the most popular works winning.

Is there an entry fee required to upload my works?
Entering and uploading the works at the Culture Cloud is free of any charges. We aim to keep The Culture Cloud open to everybody regardless of financial standing.

Who is eligible to apply?
Anybody above the age of 18+ who lives in the UK and has a physical piece of original art they have taken a photo of and have the piece available to be exhibited in the format requested.

How do I go about preparing JPG images of my work for uploading online?
Simply take a photo in JPG or TIFF or PDF format with the minimum resolution of 500px and upload it to www.theculturecloud.com

What happens if I miss the deadline?
We will not be able to accept any entries after the closing date (30 April 2012, midnight) for uploading your work.

How will I know if I have been chosen as one of the Top 30?
You will receive an email and phone call from culturecloud@nae.org.uk informing you of how you did in the competition. There will also be an announcement at the NESTA London offices week commencing 9th  July 2012. The date will be confirmed.  The Top 30 artists will be invited to attend.  If you are in the top 60 and get selected for the Top 30 be prepared for that week. 

I may not be able to apply this year, will the NAE be hosting the Culture Cloud next year?
The Culture Cloud in 2012 is a real time experiment supported by NESTA, Arts Council England and Arts Humanities Research Council (AHRC). If it is successful the project aims to grow into a revised model for 2013.

Who can enter this competition?
Anybody is free to enter this competition as long as they have a picture of an original piece of their artwork in the correct format and are over 18.

Can I enter a work that I entered in another competition?
You may enter works that have been in a competition as long as you fully own the piece.

When and how will I be notified, if my work has been chosen?
You will receive an email and/or phone call from culturecloud@nae.org.uk informing you of how you did in the competition. There will be no feedback however simply a yes or a no to stage 1.

Can the works be offered for sale throughout the period it is entered in the Culture Cloud competition?
Yes, from the final 30 artworks exhibited at NAE, our curatorial team will choose ten works, which best represents the essence of the Culture Cloud competition. These ten artworks will be for sale in the form of limited edition prints via the Artfinder website.
