Bhairav Performance

Join us to celebrate the launch of two new exhibitions in our Main Gallery: Bhairav and Dam Pani.

Spread across two days our launch extravaganza begins on Friday with a day of live art performances by Bhairav artists, featuring a special midnight performance by the renowned raag musician, Ustad Bahauddin Dagar.

Celebrations continue on Saturday evening with an artist's talk, launch party and the official opening of the shows.

1.30pm - 12am
(Please note, there will be a break 10pm - 11pm)
Nikhil Chopra
A durational drawing performance by Nikhil Chopra will result in a large-scale work that will remain part of the exhibition until its close.

2pm - 3.30pm (Iman Dfai Boutique - access through Hyson Green Post Office)
8pm - 11pm (at NAE)
Madhavi Gore
Madhavi Gore replaces a mannequin in a local shop window. Gore then moves to New Art Exchange, where her live performance shall be filmed and projected onto NAE's exterior windows.

12am - 1.30am:
Special performance by Ustad Bahauddin Dagar
A rare and majestic midnight music recital by eminent Rudra Veena player, Ustad Bahauddin Dagar who will fly in from India for this magical event. This highly esteemed and world-renowned virtuoso in Hindustani classical music has performed across the globe, receiving the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his contribution to the art form.

NAE CafeBar
Bhairav Cafe Specials run 6pm – 10pm, and include Chickpea Curry and Rice for £4 as well as Samosas, Masala Chai and a 2 for £5 offer on selected beers. A normal menu and café service runs from 9am - 5pm, and the bar will stay open until 1.30am when the event closes.

Launch party and artist's talk

Newly commissioned with the artists, New Art Exchange and Chatterjee and Lal. Supported by Here, There and Everywhere, a Midlands-London consortium led by New Art Exchange with Delfina Foundation, QUAD/FORMAT, Primary and mac Birmingham as core UK partners. Supported through funding by Arts Council England and British Council as part of a national project, Reimagine India.
