1 Jan, 1970 at 12:00 am - 19 Mar, 2015 at 12:00 am

6.30pm: Talk

7.30 – 8.30pm: Viewing the exhibition, Residual: Traces of the Black Body with refreshments

Residual: traces of the black body curator Christine Eyene will introduce the concept behind the exhibition, presented as part of FORMAT International Photography Festival. Responding to the festival’s theme of EVIDENCE, Eyene will look at chapters in the history of African and Diaspora photography and contemporary practice. She will focus on some of the issues raised by representations of the black body, notions of self-representation, subjective approaches and the double nature of photography as visual evidence and trace of a vanished physicality.

Christine will be joined in conversation by exhibiting artist Zanele Muholi.

This event is organised in collaboration with Making Histories Visible Project, University of Central Lancashire.
