Nottingham Arts Mela: New Art Exchange

New Art Exchange start the day with yoga accompanied by live tabla and Indian classical recital ft. Anupama Bhagwat.

Later, the space is filled with global sounds presented by World Music Consortium, a plentiful array of family activities, workshops, henna and face-painting.

A special exhibition, Memory of Land, presented by Nirvair Singh Rai ft. Janavi Sharma marks 100 years of Jallianwalla Bagh massacre, as well as the NAE Open.

What’s on when?

9am – 10.15am, Performance Space Yoga with Parmjit Sagoo and live tabla by Mendi Singh, in the performance space

10.45am – 12.30pm, Performance Space Indian Classical Recital by Anupama Bhagwat and Gurdain Rayatt, in the performance space

1pm – 5pm, NAE CaféBar Midlands world music consortium Global musical cultures on the café stage with sizzling delicious South Asian cuisine and specialist tea (Ahista) from South India

1pm – 5pm Saturday Art Club family-fun workshops, Mela special. Face painting and mehndi available throughout the day

Throughout the day there will be a special performance from international dance star Wahab Shah. Woven around the concept of oneness and equality this Sufi performance aims at solidifying the belief that art, like human experience, is universal.
