READING OCTAVIA BUTLER

18 May 2017, 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Performance space

Inspired by Unearthing the Banker's Bones, this reading group will focus on texts by sci-fi writer Octavia Butler. Having gained much recent attention due to chilling parallels between Butler's work and present-day global society, discussions will traverse forgotten histories of colonialism and slavery as well as future possibilities of fluid gender, biopolitics, and the apocalypse. Led by Iniva Programme Coordinator Laura Castagnini and University of Liverpool PhD candidate Beata Gubacsi, originally hosted at Bluecoat, Liverpool.
