Sethembile Msezane

2 February 2019, 11.30am - 1.30pm

New Art Exchange

Artist Sethembile Msezane, who became an icon of the #RhodesMustFall movement for her visually powerful performance Chapungu – The Day Rhodes Fell (2015), presents a talk on her practice. How does Msezane use her art to critique societies injustices? How is she pushing to expose the damages inflicted by South Africa's colonial past on contemporary society through spirituality? How can artistic practice drive to reveal the often-ignored stories of women of colour?

All are welcome
