SheAfriq: Art Dates

1 Jan, 1970 at 12:00 am - 13 Dec, 2018 at 12:00 am

Art Dates is a new series of social art gallery based events hosted by SHEAfriq, a Nottingham-based collective of woman creatives of African descent. SHEAfriq aims to provide a relaxed and casual environment for art lovers and non-art lovers alike to interact and engage in fruitful conversation about art, followed by a creative activity over drinks.

Join some of the collective as they explore some of the art works in Africa State of Mind.

After the gallery tour, participants will be invited to create response to the exhibition on a piece of paper. This could be an illustration, text-based, collage etc…The pieces will then be collected by SHEAfriq who will compile the responses into a of a new zine: Art Dates which will also feature artistic responses from Art Dates at Nottingham Contemporary. The zine will be released in March 2019.

Hello! I’m Jasmin Issaka. I love being creative, which is why you’ll find me either being a soul-singer songwriter and guitarist; an artist, but most of the time a Graphic Designer and Illustrator. I use my wonderfully weird vibrant visual style to create illustrations of sceneries, strange ideas in my head and subjects from my own experiences.
