Shrines by Honey Williams
LIVE PERFORMANCE
12 March 2022, 7pm–8pm (Doors 6.30pm)

Shrines is a newly commissioned performance by Nottingham-based artist Honey Williams – an autobiographical tale in praise of Big Black Women.
It is the story of rejection and multiple systemic oppression, interwoven with Honey's internal voice as a red thread throughout the performance. Her voice is the sugar in this narrative - her self-soothing mechanisms through art and music therapy, as a learner and a teacher.
This otherworldly and dystopian performance will be an experience that will hypnotise and immerse the audience entirely in an ethereal, soulful, sensual, opulent Afrofuturistic journey.
Honey Williams is a Sonic and Visual Artist & Designer. Her art is inspired by decolonising beauty, identity, race, music, and history. As a Singer Songwriter, Honey has performed all over the UK and Europe. She is the Director of an alt choir called Gang of Angels and a PT Lecturer in Singing at Nottingham Trent University.
