Subhash Viman Gorania and Jyoti Kainth Double Bill

24 May, 2022 at 7:00 pm

A photograph of Subhash Viman Gorania in the midst of a dance performance, his feet are wide apart and one of his hands is contorted upwards

Subhash Viman Gorania will perform two dances. Three bears witness to the stages of human life from birth to enlightening freedom of youth and the inevitability of death. Fly From explores the habits of resistance that linger in mind and body when trying to break free. In times of change and uncertainty, this physical journey grows from animalistic roots to reaching nirvana when challenged by displacement and detachment from within.

Jyoti Kainth in traditional dress

Born in Birmingham, Jyoti Kainth began her Bharatanatyam dance training at the tender age of 6 under the guidance of her Guru Smt Chitraleka Bolar. Jyoti completed her Arangetram in 2007 and has since been involved in numerous dance productions with companies such as ‘Chitraleka Dance Company’, ‘Sampad’, ‘Nritarutya’ and ‘Moby Duck’. Although Jyoti is now a qualified dentist she still aspires to continue to develop her dance vocabulary and creativity, enabling her to choreograph new and innovative dance items, which are appealing to both contemporary and traditional audiences

Bharatanatyam, is assumed to be the oldest classical dance form and is made up of three main aspects. Jyoti will be performing a trilogy of dances to show off these different elements. The first dance concentrating on expressions and storytelling, second demonstrating grace and power through fluid movements and intricate footwork and finally finishing with a dance which combines both pure dance and storytelling whilst adding a contemporary twist to this stunning dance form.
