Cut & Mix

Mezzanine Gallery

Cut & Mix is an exhibition curated by Ian Sergeant to interrogate notions of race, gender, sexualities, class, place and identities in relation to Black British masculinities. The exhibition is located in the emergence of the Blk Art Group's work (1979-1984), a signifier of an emerging Black consciousness in Britain in the early 1980's. It will feature interdisciplinary contemporary and archival works by Black British artists allowing for a dialogue between past, present and future representations of Black British masculinities.
