New Art Exchange TouringHetain Patel: At HomeChatterjee and Lal, Mumbai At Home is Patel’s first major solo exhibition of new work since 2007 and has been commissioned by New Art Exchange, Nottingham. This much anticipated collection marks an important turning point in the artist’s practice. In a departure from previous self-portraiture works, Patel will no longer be the sole protagonist in the camera’s frame, and in some cases, completely absent. In keeping with his recent practice, the work starts with culture specific questions relating to his own identity, which then open out into much wider questions around human relationships and the insatiable appetite we have to define ourselves.
At Home will be shown at New Art Exchange from Saturday 21 April to Saturday 30 June.
