To inspire the next generation of artists and creative producers, New Art Exchange provides a range of opportunities to engage families and young people with creative practice. Our Youth and Family programme has a number of different strands intended to engage a range of abilities and ages. Often inspired by the theme of our exhibitions, all of our sessions combine creativity, learning and fun, to build artistic skills and to encourage a greater understanding of the visual arts.
Our programme of Family Friendly workshops are designed to encourage intergenerational learning and play between young people and their family/guardians. The sessions, suitable for all ages from toddlers to grandparents, incorporate craft, art, dance and theatre.
Our Holiday Programme of artistic workshops are designed to engage young adults over the school and college holiday period. They provide opportunities to create, experiment and explore various artistic practices which often revolve around new media and new technologies.
NAE also runs YARD Youth Theatre. This critically acclaimed theatre company sees professional performers and theatre-makers work collectively with young people to create their own original public performances. The weekly sessions aim to build confidence and corporal expression, as well as more specific theatre skills such as script-writing, voice work and characterisation.
Join in a range of fun family friendly crafts and arts activities with our Saturday Art Club, which currently runs every Saturday morning. Parents and children of all ages can participate and become part of our growing NAE community. Join one session or all!
As well as our usual programme of fun-filled workshops and sessions for families at NAE, we also have a Family Resource Area that can be explored at any time during opening hours.
