YOUnique Festival & Producers

YOUnique is an exciting arts and activism festival organised by, and for, young people in Nottingham. It gives you a chance to come together, share your creativity, celebrate who you are and express your views on issues that matter to you. Make your voice heard!

The YOUnique programme offers young people a chance to become festival producers. Working with the NAE team, industry experts, professional artists and local activists you'll be involved in all aspects of festival organisation and management. You'll decide on the key themes, the artists you want to work with and the events that will happen as part of the festival.

You can also work towards your Arts Award or Duke of Edinburgh's Award by being a YOUnique Producer.

'I enjoyed seeing a festival go from a few sheets of paper to a reality, knowing I had a part in making it happen.' - (YOUnique Producer 2020)

YOUnique Festival 2020

Last year, the team of young producers chose 'Identitly: Who Am I?' as the main theme of the 2020 festival.

The team of young producers created their own film about identity, working with a professional film-maker. The festival programme also included two outreach projects, with local youth groups creating dance performances and a pop-up exhibition, exploring their own sense of self.

The finale festival day happened in February 2020, bringing together all the work that young people had created as part of YOUnique 2020 projects. This was a day of workshops, performances and sharings, with an 'Identity Crisis' party happening at the end of the day.
