Culture Unwrapped: Big Picture

DJ and celebrated TV and Radio presenter, Nihal Arthanayake, leads a panel to discuss the meaning of culture against the back drop of Brexit in the UK, rising political power by right wing parties in Europe, where social media and fake news create turmoil instigating Islamaphobia and ‘migrant’ politics reshaping our destiny, unsettling the psyche into with fear.

Ben Harriott uses photography as a tool to explore the relationship between the physical, emotional and the subconscious. His work explores the chasm of family identity spanning three cultures: British, Jamaican and Russian.

Kayza Rose is the Executive Director of BlackOutLDN which she co-founded to support victims of racism and to combat oppressions suffered by people of colour. Kayza uses creative practices to give marginalised groups a voice.

Mahsuda Snaith is an award winning writer of novels and short stories. Her debut novel ‘The Things We Thought We Knew’ is published by Doubleday. She was named Observer New Face of Fiction in 2017.

Mahtab Hussain a British social commentary artist uses photography to explore the important relationship between identity, heritage and displacement.
