Facilitator Mellonie Page leads a contemporary dance workshop with performing arts. Through dance, devising, debate and performance set to Solange Knowles’ song, Don’t Touch My Hair, this workshop explores the topic of ‘hair petting’, the touching of black or mixed raced people’s hair without their permission.
The session looks closely at objectifying individuals as other, as though our natural hair is in some way odd or offensive.
