Expansive dystopian landscapes, spacecrafts used to plant ancient relics, and a single colossal skyscraper to accommodate a national population. These vivid scenes beyond reality are part of New Art Exchange’s exhibition showcasing the work of artist, Larissa Sansour. The future that Sansour visualises may seem absurd, yet it has roots in very real political situations that exist in the present day. Join us in for this special evening where you will be the first to see this exciting exhibition. The event features performances by the Middle Eastern inspired band, Arian, and a response to the exhibition by contemporary dancer, Antonio Abatangelo

Artist Larissa Sansour was born in Jerusalem and her practice is underscored by the urgency of Palestine’s political problems. She typically deploys dry wit and pop culture references in her work as a means of cutting through cultural divides and connecting the international community with the universal relevance of this situation. This exhibition focuses specifically on her more recent exploration into the genre of sci-fi, and includes three film installations: A Space Exodus (2009), Nation Estate (2012), and the UK premiere of Sansour’s newest work, In the Future They Ate From the Finest Porcelain (2015).
Exhibition runs until Sunday 13 March 2016
