Laced: Nottingham’s Woven Histories

1 Jan, 1970 at 12:00 am - 14 Apr, 2021 at 12:00 am

Join NAE and musician and sound artist Tom Harris for an active listening session.

Tom will play a live soundscape which includes music and field recordings developed from a soundwalk through the Arboretum and Lace Market, inspired by artworks by artists Rahima Gambo and Simnikiwe Buhlungu.

Influenced by the process of Psychogeography (the exploration of urban environments that emphasises playfulness and drifting), this workshop will enable you to reflect on the sounds by considering the history of lace in Nottingham, and women’s and workers’ rights. Collectively and individually, we will contemplate our civil liberties and write down our thoughts, reflecting on the themes of love, liberty, and freedom.

During the two days we will create reflective texts using exercises like freewriting, influenced by the process of active listening.

Please book one ticket per each participating young person. Please ensure that as a parent/career you have read NAE’s guidelines for online sessions here.

Tuesday 13 April & Wednesday 14 April, 11am-12:30pm. Ages 11-16.

Free | Online via Zoom | Booking Required | Limited Capacity
