Mela 2015 at Nottingham Castle

1 Jan, 1970 at 12:00 am - 13 Sep, 2015 at 12:00 am

Nottingham’s annual South Asian celebration returns as Mela 2015 explores the theme of ‘tipping point’ – ‘a time at which a change or effect cannot be stopped.’ At New Art Exchange, Nottingham Castle and Nottingham Playhouse.

A weekend packed with South Asian culture, food and games, Mela 2015 brings together national and local talent to explore these ideas of energy and social change.

Following a blessing on Friday evening by dancer Gustavo Olita, Saturday and Sunday will feature a range of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Following a morning raag, there will be film screenings, live music and dance performances, creative spaces for children and a special South Asian menu at New Art Exchange.

On Sunday we take Mela outside to Nottingham Castle Grounds. Coinciding with National Heritage Open Days, Mela 2015 will fill the castle grounds with dance, music performances, yoga, football, rangoli, craft for children and much more. Catch a ride on the Tuk Tuk or try food from the range of stalls on site as you soak up a weekend celebrating the diversity and beauty of South Asian culture.
