A ten-year survey of the acclaimed Nigerian-born artist Sokari Douglas Camp. Her primary material is steel and her work often explores her relationship to contemporary Nigeria and Britain. Race, racism, gender issues, exploitation and violence all surface in her practice.

NAE showcases new work based on Nigerian traditional dress and large scale sculptures from collections including her celebrated installation The Living Memorial to Ken Saro-Wiwa. The exhibition opened on the 13th anniversary of the death of Saro-Wiwa.

Sokari Douglas Camp is a sculptor. She was short listed for the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square in 2003. She collaborated with Ground Force to create an African Garden for the British Museum, which participated in Africa 05. Douglas Camp was awarded a CBE in the 2005 Honours List.
