The Colour of Love

The Colour of Love focuses on capturing and archiving the experiences of Black African-Caribbean and White British people who were in mixed race relationships in Nottinghamshire during the 1940s – 1970s.

Through working with volunteers from the community, the project has spoken to over one hundred Nottinghamshire residents who have helped to shape the research. This exhibition presents a small selection of family photographs put forward by contributors. The project uncovers stories of lives lived as part of a mixed race couple, with all of the challenges, prejudices but also joy that brought.
