WHAT IF’¦ CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP

1 Jan, 1970 at 12:00 am - 14 Aug, 2021 at 12:00 am

Nottingham-based poet and writer Ioney Smallhorne leads a creative writing workshop on speculative fiction and magic realism. Here are some words from Ioney:

‘What if’…. such a simple question but also a liberating one for the writer. Re-imagine the past, the present, the future, go on, I dare you! Let’s go there, where ever your ‘there’ is and see, hear, smell, taste and touch your imagined world.
This writing workshop orbits around the odd, explores speculative fiction/magic realism genres, infuses reading, writing, discussion and draws inspiration from Arit Emannuela Etukudo’s multi-disciplinary exhibition The Christening.

Ioney Smallhorne earned a MA in Creative Writing/Education, Goldsmiths University 2019. Co-lead faciltator for Gobs Poetry collective. Longlisted for the Jerwood Fellowship 2017, short listed by Caribbean Small-Axe prize 2016. She has performed her poems across the country a highlight being London 2012 Para Olympics. Ioney is currently working on her first poetry anthology with Peepal Tree Press’s, Inscribe mentoring programme. Her poem, ‘Yamaye, the Land of Wood and Water’ has been included in the Dial-a-Poem project, a free App available via Google Play or Apple’s App Store.
