Windrush: Journeys To Nottingham

1 Jan, 1970 at 12:00 am - 10 Jan, 2019 at 12:00 am

Originally scheduled for Thursday 29 November, this event will now take place on Thursday 10 January. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Presented in partnership with Nottingham Black Archive (NBA), join us as we launch the first collection of interviews and stories from Nottingham’s Windrush generation and their descendants. Offering a glimpse into the reasons why individuals from across the Caribbean decided to make Nottingham their home in the 40s, 50s and 60s, and the important roles they have played in shaping the city as we know it. This is a unique moment to unlock NBA’s rich archive of interviews for the very first time.

Nottingham Black Archive (NBA) is dedicated to collecting, preserving and celebrating the histories of people of African descent in Nottingham. The NBA programme of exhibitions and events provide a platform from which to share the diversity of cultures originating from Africa and the Caribbean, past and present. The collection promotes the teaching, learning and understanding of African Caribbean peoples’ contribution to Nottingham and provides an accessible permanent record of the richness of the Black experience in Nottingham.
