Pakeezah
On Friday 6th September, Mela launched with a film screening of Pakeezah, projected in an art installation by Nadim Chaudry at Primary.
MELA 100: Zoe Rahman, Idris Rahman and Sahana Bajpaie
On Saturday 7 September, Zoe Rahman (Mercury Award Nominee and MOBO award winner) performed with friends to celebrate the poetry and music of Rabindranath Tagore. NAE’s talented graphic designers and lighting designers created a magical immersive visual space to compliment the music.
Family Day
The following day there were family activities at New Art Exchange, providing something for everyone to enjoy. The day featured a DJ marathon, craft and rangoli workshops, face painting, henna, screening of The Chaiya Chaiya project, Autorikshaw rides, South Asian culinary treats and regional films screening.
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
After the family day at NAE, crowds turned up at Chipperfield’s big top on Forest Recreational Ground, where NAE had organised a screening of the classic Bollywood film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. A magical setting for a fantastic film!
