We are thrilled to announce that New Art Exchange has been awarded £490,000 by Arts Council England to redevelop its neighbouring building, Hyson Green Library.

Working in collaboration with Nottingham City Council, Take 1 and Nottingham Hackspace, NAE will transform the space into a new base for Take 1, flexible workshop and meeting facilities and a Hyson Green Hackspace. NAE are in the process of raising the remaining funds needed to deliver the project, which has a total cost of £1.1m. If successful, work will commence in Autumn 2015.

Take 1 are delighted to be involved as a partner with NAE on this exciting new venture. This opportunity will mean that we are able to expand the services that we offer to our community and give our alternative education provision, dance school and music studio a brand new base with state of the art facilities that will further enhance the learning opportunities for our young people and their families‘, Courtney Rose, Take 1.

Part of the Arts Council’s role is to invest in the equipment and buildings arts organisations need to create great art and culture for their communities. New Art Exchange plays a really important role in the cultural life of Hyson Green and beyond. It will be great to see it expand its work to make the most of the former Hyson Green Library building for local people‘, Peter Knott, Area Director, Arts council England.
