WELCOME TO THE #NAEARCHIVEGALLERY WHERE MEMBERS OF THE TEAM WILL BE SHARING THEIR FAVOURITE EXHIBITIONS FROM OUR ARCHIVE!

Our Learning Producer Ruth’s pick is Sounds Like Her.

I recall a very lively launch for Sounds Like Her in 2017, when I got to meet Sonia Boyce whose work I have admired for many years. The whole exhibition was a goosebumpy experience because of the power of the female voices, but the mezzanine gallery was positively jumping! The spontaneous jamming session with local musicians thrashing out beats on the African percussion instruments created the sort of Nottingham party vibe that we crave in this period of enforced social distancing.
