Refugee Week Film Screening: Evaporating Borders

1 Jan, 1970 at 12:00 am - 18 Jun, 2015 at 12:00 am

Evaporating Borders (Dir. Iva Radivojevic, 2014, 73mins) is the first feature film by the Serbian filmmaker, Iva Radivojevic. The film takes the form of a visual essay, focusing on the lives of asylum seekers and refugees in Cyprus. Confronted by bureaucracy, destitution, and appalling conditions in run-down camps, the migrants face hostility and racism. The film reflects upon issues relating to refugees in Europe today, in particular questions of identity and the meaning of nation and nationality.

There will be a panel discussion featuring local refugees together with Roger Bromley and Helen O’Nions from the Nottingham universities, Jemal Idris and Swan.
