Create is where the ideas and collaborations from our Connect phase come to life.

This stage is dedicated to delivering new ideas that have grown from our relationships. Create is about kick-starting and developing the talents of people underrepresented in the arts – through partnership-driven public activities and targeted support, Create will ensure that every project is relevant, accessible, and transformative.

Key Activities:

Exhibit: Our programme of indoor and outdoor exhibitions and events showcases the diversity and vibrancy of Global Ethnic Majority artists. By providing a platform for these voices, Exhibit will enrich the cultural landscape and encourage dialogue and understanding across communities.

Reside: A residency programme for artists from the Global Ethnic Majority. Reside invites selected artists to take part in a series of residencies at NAE. During their stay with us, artists develop their work and engage with the team and community through a series of events.

Beyond the Walls: In collaboration with different communities in Hyson Green, Beyond the Walls brings impactful stories to life through large-scale murals. Working with internationally recognised muralists, Beyond the Walls transforms key sites into canvases that tells a story of the rich and diverse histories of the local communities.

Art Your Way: This is a series of community art commissions – by our community and for our community. These projects are shaped and led by ideas that reflect locally significant aspirations within Hyson Green.

YOU programmes: Focused on supporting young talent, this initiative includes YOUnique, a young producers festival that takes over NAE for four days and an exhibition created in partnership with young people from Amber Valley & Erewash civil society organisations.
