Volunteer at Mela

New Art Exchange is looking for energetic individuals to support Nottingham Arts Mela this August as we mark 30 years of Mela in the UK.

Mela is an annual festival celebrating South Asian arts and culture through vibrant events and activities across Nottingham. This year Mela returns to New Art Exchange on Saturday 1 September, with additional events in Hockley from Wednesday 29 - Friday 31 August and the final family-friendly event at Arboretum Park on Sunday 2 September. Expect to see an exciting selection of music, dance, theatre, food family workshops, and visual arts.

As a member of the support team you will be assisting with the delivery of this festival. Volunteers must be energetic, able to use your own initiative and be confident in talking to members of the public.

As a volunteer at Nottingham Arts Mela you will:
Gain experience in festival/event coordination
Meet and greet leading Mela artists
Develop excellent customer service skills, communicating information and ensuring that all visitors have an enjoyable experience
Creatively working with young people and families
Support the festival tech team by setting up and closing down the event
Provide hospitality for the Mela artists/team

To apply, please download and application form and return it to volunteer@nae.org.uk by Friday 3 August.

Inductions for new volunteers will take place on Friday 10 August.

On-site briefings will take place for all volunteers on event days.

Volunteer Application Form

Please note that while we welcome applications from individuals of all abilities and every effort will be made to accommodate specific support needs, many of the areas volunteers will support are physically demanding.
