Saturday Art Club

7 March 2020, 10.30am-12.30pm

New Art Exchange

Kickstart your Saturday with these drop-in creative workshops. The perfect chance to get creative as a family, this season we're taking inspiration from Shezad Dawood's multidisciplinary exhibition Encroachments and Dawinder Bansal's living-room-shop installation Jambo Cinema. We'll be building structures, playing with analogue technologies, textures and fabrics, and thinking about our family stories.

This session is called 'Movie Sets and Puppets'. Use a cardboard box to make your own TV or stage set and cut out shapes to make puppets for your very own movie or stage play. With images from early Pakistani cinema and music stars to inspire us, we shall all perform with our puppets together in one big show at the end of the workshop.

The puppets will be cut from black card and painted with neon paint to reflect the look of pop culture in the 60s and 70s.

Aimed at ages 4—7
